Early Acceptance and Fellowship applications for 2026 are open!

We will be holding two summer residency sessions in 2026

We are accepting 24 Artists and one Full Fellowship Artist for each session.


Early Acceptance application for 2026: Now Open!

The Early Acceptance allows the artist to choose from three residency fee tiers. The residency fee includes accommodations, studio space and two meals each day for the two week duration of the residency. The artist is responsible for their own travel to the residency, and daily stipend for any groceries, art supplies or excursions outside of the village. Artists who are able to pay the full residency fee may select to pay $4400 in their application. Artists who require a partial fellowship to attend may select to be considered for a partial fellowship, for a residency fee of $3600. Artists who need financial aid in addition to the partial fellowship may select to be considered for the $2800 residency fee, and will be asked to perform a job during their residency session. Residency jobs include studio maintenance, exhibition crew and tech assistance. 1/3 of the residencies each year are partially funded and 1/3 of the residencies each year are partially funded with an additional stipend.

The Early Acceptance application for 2026 is now open, the deadline to apply is October 31, 2025.

Applicants can expect an answer by the end of November.


Fellowship award application for 2026: Now Open!

The Full Fellowship Award for 2026 includes accommodations, studio space and two meals each day for the two week duration of the residency at no cost to the artist. The artist is responsible for their own travel to the residency, and for any groceries, art supplies or excursions outside of the village. The Mudhouse Residency sponsors two Full Fellowships for the 2026 season. The Full fellowship is determined by a selection committee based on the merit of the applicant’s work.

Artists are welcome to apply to both the Full Fellowship Award and the General Application. The Full Fellowship Award is very competitive, in both 2024 and 2025 it received over 200 applications each year. Artists who apply for the Full Fellowship award will not be automatically considered for the General application.

The Full Fellowship Award application for 2026 is now open, the deadline to apply is January 1, 2026.

Applicants can expect to receive an answer by the end of January.


general residency APPLICATION for 2026: will open november 1

Applicants will be accepted on a rolling basis beginning December 1. Applications will be accepted until April 1 or until program spots are full. Apply early!

The Mudhouse encourages alumni to return to the Mudhouse. Returning alumni are asked to submit a project proposal, rather than an application. We are able to welcome four returning alumni each year for a reduced residency fee of $2600. Alumni artists are accepted on a first response basis.
